The completed facility includes a new six-lane lap pool with an adjacent aqua-exercise pool, a wave pool with a lazy river and bubble pit, an activity pool with zero-depth entry, a play structure, geysers, and sprays, a water slide, and a 20-person therapeutic hydro-jet spa. The universal locker room expansion better serves families and individuals with special needs, increasing accessibility for all. The recreation center remained open to the public throughout construction. To ensure guest and staff safety and minimize impacts on daily operations, Pinkard implemented exceptional safety and operational protocols.

The team took great pains identifying, procuring and storing long lead items well in advance. Items that arrived early were typically stored either onsite or at company warehouses, greatly mitigating most COVID-related delays.

Pinkard's strong relationships with the best pool contractors in Colorado allowed us to work with the best value-added contractors in the business. In addition to our punch list requirements, our pool contractor employed a custom punch list that covered the extensive tile, formwork, and rebar. We meticulously reviewed our punch expectations with the entire team before pouring concrete and leading into rebar inspections. With 30 tons of rebar in the lap pool alone, this attention to detail ensured that Thornton would have the best concrete pours possible.

Pinkard also enlisted the skills of one of the best pool tile contractors in the business. This subcontractor had teamed with our pool contractor for more than 17 years. Their skill, team chemistry, and collaboration ensured that all the laser-leveled tile was within a very tight 1/16th inch.
