PINKARD CONSTRUCTION RAISES OVER $71,000 FOR THE ACE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

LAKEWOOD, COLO. — (August 17, 2020) Pinkard Construction held the first annual Careers in Construction golf tournament at the Country Club at Castle Pines, and raised $71,270, providing over 30 scholarships for students from low-income families from a variety of different circumstances across numerous states. 25 Colorado companies and individuals provided generous sponsorships that made the tournament such a success.

A total of 120 participants competed in foursomes throughout the day. The organizers utilized a staggered start, required masks in areas where social distancing was impossible, and held a virtual closing ceremony to ensure that all participants were safe from COVID-19.

The tournament champions are Justin Soucie, G&S Capital; Peter Piplica, Design Health; Frank Propati, Megastar Financial; Scott Hill, Visual Interest. Additional competition winners are longest drive winners Jeff Grimm from Setpoint Systems and Colleen Martin from Long Building Technologies; closest to the pin winners Andy Aye from BOK Financial and Mary Tully from the Haylie Pomroy Group.

Since 2000, ACE has awarded over 42,000 scholarships worth over $102M, giving children from low-income families the chance to succeed. Their scholarships ensure that their students graduate from high school with most going on to college.

“In addition to the great time people had, the event raised already over $71,000 for ACE. I really can’t tell you how much that means to us, and how impactful that is for the students we serve,” said Liz Cole, ACE Scholarships Development Director. “30 scholarships provided is not a small number, and that equals 30 lives changed.”

Pinkard’s Chief Development Officer Jeff Barnes, says he sees an opportunity to nurture the next generation workforce of the construction industry in Colorado, and hopes that these scholarships provide enhanced access to all Colorado students.

“With all our very generous sponsors from every facet of the construction industry, we hope to bring some much-needed investment into the workforce of our future,” said Barnes. “We hope that this will become an annual event and encourage anyone who has an interest in becoming a sponsor to reach out.”
