Pinkard Special Projects Division Awarded IREA Facility Renovation/Addition

The Intermountain Rural Electric Association (IREA) has selected Pinkard Construction Company as construction manager/general contractor for the renovation and addition to their Conifer District Operations Facility. The project will be one of the first under construction by Pinkard's new Special Projects Division created just a few months ago.

Pinkard will collaborate with project architect LKA Partners to provide preconstruction and construction services to renovate and expand the 13,000 sq. ft. Facility located off Highway 285 in Pine, Colorado. Construction documents are scheduled for completion in late June 2021, with groundbreaking this summer.

"Pinkard brought the right team for the project to the table," said Evan Roberts, Facility and Fleet Director for IREA. “It was clear throughout the selection process that this team has the commitment to excellence we were looking for.”

The renovation portion will include extensive mechanical and electrical system upgrades, relocation of various existing workspaces, and the remodel of the lobby to better serve the many Coloradans IREA provides power to throughout the Conifer District.

"We are extremely pleased to be kicking off our new division with the award of this very important project. IREA is a valued, long-term client, and this work will dramatically improve their ability to provide the vital services their customers demand," said Jim Pagano, Special Projects Division Director.

Pinkard will also be constructing a new pre-engineered metal building, a new 30,000-gallon fire protection water storage tank with fire hydrant; and new stormwater management facilities, including a detention pond.

Initial project estimates indicate a $3.1 million project cost, with construction projected to complete in January 2022.

Pinkard and IREA have previously worked together on their 43,000 sq. ft. Sedalia District Office. This project will be Pinkard's 62nd municipal/quasi-public project.
